Please make sure you are using the most up to date version of the PTS!

That being said, the FAA is phasing out the PTS for the ACS. Airman Certification Standards. The first two ACS will be for the Private Pilot (ASEL, AMEL, ASES & AMES) and the Instrument Rating. These are going to be active sometime the first half of 2016. Here's some links to more information

Chris, Thank you for the information. Is there information on how do these new regs affect the Bi-Annual process?

Hi Roger,

The ACS wont really change the Bi-Annual process. Flight Instructors currently use the PTS to evaluate pilots during a BFR. The ACS is a more comprehensive PTS. Before the ACS we had all the information criteria spread out in different books and stuff. The ACS now has all the requirements in it.
